Weekend Concert 23: Twentieth-Century Conservatism

2007/1/6 11:06:35

Twentieth-Century

Conservatism

Musically, twentieth-century Russia was an absolute superpower,Compared to Old Chai, his successors were far more outstanding。Rachmaninoff and Shostakovich were among the more conservative,Compared to other masters of the twentieth century, their music has more nineteenth-century coloring。Of course, by comparison, for general listeners, their listenability is the strongest。

Today I've selected Old Rach's First Piano Concerto and Old Shostakovich's Fifth Symphony。Have to rush out, can't introduce further. Listen for yourselves。

Had to go out. Everyone make do with listening,These two works are relatively accessible by twentieth-century music standards and shouldn't be too difficult to listen through。

Leave any questions -- if I can't return tonight, we'll talk tomorrow。
