A Jesus That Is Neither The Da Vinci Code Nor the Vatican's!

2006/5/20 22:30:45

Recently The Da Vinci Code has been very hot. Regarding Jesus, besides The Da Vinci Code and the Vatican's version, there exists a version that is neither one — a Jesus being seriously researched. This version of Jesus has been introduced in many books. The most accessible one domestically is probably Holger Kersten's Jesus Lived in India. But even before Kersten, the late-Qing/early-Republic monk Xu Yun (Empty Cloud) had separately mentioned related matters to Sun Yat-sen, Chiang Kai-shek, and others, referencing important materials from a deleted version of the "Acts of the Apostles," involving records of Jesus's activities between the ages of twelve and thirty-one — a period not covered in the New Testament! The historical verification of these materials is a very serious academic matter, involving no religious bias. Below, in the form of vernacular poetry and drawing on this scholarly perspective, here is a Jesus that is neither The Da Vinci Code's nor the Vatican's!

The sky separates from the ocean
Thunder storms and snow
Three angels narrate
the birth of sun, moon, and stars

Eve coupling wildly with Adam
God's mingling of semen and blood into chaos
Creation God being created
The created deity seduced the serpent

The apple tree blooms with skulls
Drifting and falling in infinite transformation
The eternal seventh day
Paradise lost from Eden

Triangles a flock descending from the Realm of Clear Sound
The Messiah's shroud
The ice peaks of the Himalayas
Flying Jerusalem's divine carpet

Cross-shaped patterns
Three angels searching for the reincarnated child
Push open Mary's great door
Blood blooming like roses

The sky rainbow-dissolving
Resurrecting through death
Everest's eternal ice and snow
The Big Dipper lies across the sky
