The Cultural Revolution: A Human Farce Born of "Great Savior" Mentality!

2006/4/25 22:01:00

Like a machine held under iron control, the launch and spread of the Cultural Revolution was absolutely a miracle in human history. The only comparable event would be Hitler's Blitzkrieg. For all mechanistic movements in human society, a kind of synchronized resonance subverts the fundamental structure of human existence -- people become machines. This is the essential prerequisite for all mechanistic movements in human society.

But humans are ultimately not machines. To keep the mechanical nature of people sufficiently machine-like, one must exploit humanity's greatest weakness. The most fundamental predicament of a human being is the eternal fear of the unknown. For any person, death can arrive in the next second, and beyond death lies an eternity of the unknown. This state of ignorance constitutes the most fundamental condition of any person, whether or not you have ever contemplated this problem -- for everyone, it remains a problem.

The simplest remedy for the fear of the unknown is "Great Savior" mentality -- the desperate seeking of an external force has been the sole constant throughout human history. Only the very rare few who are truly wise can free themselves from external dependence and conquer the unknown. This fear of the unknown provides the perfect breeding ground for all "Great Savior" mentality, and thus the perfect catalyst for all human farces. This was demonstrated to the fullest in the Cultural Revolution.

The Cultural Revolution can end, but its roots remain. The roots of "Great Savior" mentality remain. The current so-called economic frenzy is essentially an extension of "Great Savior" mentality, except that now the "Great Savior" has become "filthy lucre"! Even those who summon the ghost of the Cultural Revolution can't actually go back -- they merely groan a few notes under the banner of "filthy lucre" or "Great Savior." The left, the right, and the infantile faction they collectively compose -- all merely demonstrate their own respective versions of "Great Savior" mentality. This is the true face of history.
