The situation is better than expected. New life is always difficult, but things have been basically sorted out. Currently recuperating at a hospital. Happened to run into a former high school classmate, who has been of enormous help.

A friend told me about a pristine, extraordinary place in the borderlands. Come early next spring, I'll head there first to revel in that primordial wilderness. I'll keep the details private for now — let me be selfish for once, and let the claws of exploitation reach there a bit later.
