The Biggest Blunder of Reform: Failing to Root Out the "June Fourth Remnants"!

2006-03-09 21:59:16

There's been a lot of debate about reform recently. In this ID's view, it's all impractical -- nobody dares dig deep enough. If you really want to speak harshly, speak the blunt truth, then it comes down to one sentence: the biggest blunder of reform was failing to root out the "June Fourth remnants"! Of course, "rooting out" doesn't mean physically eliminating anyone, but rather eliminating them at the level of social resource control, including discourse power, economic control, and so on. As for that pile of molecules composing their mortal flesh, time itself will naturally root them out.

This ID is absolutely not speaking from the so-called left-wing perspective, because this ID opposes the left; nor from the centrist or right-wing perspective. This is purely the most straightforward commentary on the entire phenomenon. A very simple question, one that cannot be hidden: because the "June Fourth remnants" were not rooted out, these remnants saw that their hasty grab for power on the political front bore no fruit, so they went about "building the plank road in the open while secretly crossing at Chencang" -- pulling economic maneuvers behind the scenes. The economic landscape afterward clearly bears too many of their fingerprints.

This bunch probably hoped to put Stalin's theory of "economic base determines superstructure" (sorry, this isn't from old Marx himself) into practice -- first driving wedges into the economy, then waiting for the right moment to settle scores. That's their little scheme. All the various economic banners and slogans, to put it plainly, are in service of this scheme. That's the plain truth of it. Those who can't see it or deliberately refuse to acknowledge it are either fools or are winking knowingly while playing deaf and dumb.

To put it bluntly, the left and right factions are like water and fire -- there's no reconciling them. This ID doesn't care for either side. I merely find it laughable that the left was soft-hearted (or perhaps wishful) at the time, and now they're frantic, jumping up and down in a panic. The right, meanwhile, playing the meek grandson thinking their time has finally come, eagerly poking their turtle heads out to strut around -- equally laughable. In the end, left and right are nothing but thugs and idiots. Whoever wants to take offense can go right ahead. This ID simply enjoys puncturing frauds and getting a kick out of stripping everyone naked.
