Sichuan, Don't Disgrace China!

This ID once wrote several articles under the title "Acquiring China," forcefully arguing the real risk that China faces being acquired. Years ago, in this ID's famous online essay "Currency Wars and the RMB Strategy," such a scenario was already warned about. Later, on the day the RMB was liberalized, this ID wrote: "China has finally gone global, but can the world still be Chinese?" Less than two years later, for Chinese enterprises today, the question has become: "The world is still the world, but can China still be China?"

The de-Sinification of Chinese enterprises is something we've long become numb to. As mentioned in another post, since foreign devils' money is still money, we might as well suck their blood in the future and see who's more ruthless. But these past few days, regarding the news that a certain famous Sichuan baijiu enterprise is about to be acquired by the world's largest liquor conglomerate, I still find it somewhat unacceptable. Baijiu — the quintessence of China. The British, for the sake of their "British disease," can make whisky even more GAY, but by what right should baijiu become whisky? Who has the authority?

Sichuan, don't disgrace China! The wine Li Bai once drank, the wine Du Fu once drank, the wine Su Dongpo once drank. Without wine, where would Chinese culture be? Without wine, how would you have Li Bai "raising his cup to invite the moon, making three companions of his shadow"? How would Du Fu "sing freely in the bright daylight"? How would Su Dongpo "ask the blue heavens"? Even if all the wine in China were sold off, how could anyone bear to sell Sichuan's wine? A certain liquor brand became the "national spirit" on the strength of a single foreign award, but does it have Li Bai, Du Fu, or Su Dongpo? What qualifies it to be the national spirit? If something must be sold, sell that one — but don't sell Sichuan's wine, because that is Li Bai, Du Fu, and Su Dongpo!

Let whisky be even more GAY, let Bordeaux be even more SEX, but Sichuan's wine must remain Chinese, must remain Li Bai, must remain Du Fu, must remain Su Dongpo! In an age without Li Bai, Du Fu, or Su Dongpo, this is probably the most basic, the most bottom-line demand of any Chinese person. A person can lack morals, but must have a bottom line. Sichuan, don't disgrace China!

This has nothing to do with regional identity — don't drag that in!
