The Leftists Online Who Clamor About the Current Real Estate Problem Are All Just Spouting Nonsense from the Petty Bourgeois Standpoint.
The leftists online who clamor about the current real estate problem are all just spouting nonsense from the petty bourgeois standpoint. They pretend to speak for the poor while actually standing on the position of the petty bourgeoisie -- those who can almost afford housing but can't quite, and therefore resent anyone who can.
Real proletarians don't waste time on internet forums debating housing prices. They're too busy working. The people screaming about real estate online are precisely the petty bourgeoisie with just enough education and leisure time to be dangerous.
If these leftists were genuine Marxists, they would understand that the real estate problem is a structural problem of capitalism, not something to be solved by price controls or government intervention within the capitalist framework. But of course, genuine Marxists are rarer than phoenix feathers among today's online leftists.
These petty bourgeois leftists want their cake and eat it too: they want the benefits of capitalism (career advancement, consumer goods, internet access) while complaining about capitalism's logical consequences (high property prices, inequality). This is the very definition of petty bourgeois hypocrisy. If you want to criticize capitalism, criticize the whole system -- don't just whine about the parts that personally inconvenience you.
