Detailed Analysis of "The Analects": For All Who Have Misinterpreted Confucius (55)
2007/3/8 15:27:19
The Master said: In a state composed of all clans, if there are those who follow my standard of loyalty and trustworthiness, this does not compare to having those who follow my standard of love of learning.
Yang Bojun: Confucius said: "Even in a place of just ten households, there would certainly be someone as loyal and trustworthy as myself, only they wouldn't match my fondness for learning."
Qian Mu: The Master said: "In a small town of ten families, there must be someone with natural qualities of loyalty and trustworthiness like mine, but none who could match my love of learning."
Li Zehou: Confucius said: "Even in a small place of ten households, there would certainly be someone as loyal and reliable as me, only they wouldn't be as fond of studying as I am."
Detailed Explanation: "室" (shì), clan/family; "邑" (yì), originally meaning "state/country"; "必" (bì), if/supposing; "如" (rú), to follow/comply with; "丘" (qiū), Confucius's self-reference; "焉" (yān), herein; "不如" (bùrú), not as good as. "十室之邑" (shí shì zhī yì), a state composed of all clans — from individuals to families to states, cultivating oneself, ordering the family, governing the state, and thereby bringing peace to all under heaven. "十" (shí, ten), according to the Shuowen Jiezi, ten represents the completeness of numbers, encompassing east, west, south, north, and center — speaking of the utmost magnitude, meaning all-encompassing.
"必有忠信如丘者焉" means "必有如丘之忠信者焉" — if within "the state composed of all clans" there are those who follow my standard of "loyalty and trustworthiness"; "不如丘之好学也" is an abbreviation of "不如有如丘之好学者焉也" — this cannot compare to having those within "the state composed of all clans" who follow my standard of "love of learning." These two sentences express both an attitude of Confucius and a deep concern: a state cannot merely adopt "loyalty and trustworthiness" as its standard while neglecting "love of learning" as a standard — such a state cannot be considered as practicing "the Way of the Sage." And in fact, the states that followed mostly adopted only "loyalty and trustworthiness" as their standard — from Hitler to George W. Bush, from militarism to democracy, all without exception took so-called "loyalty and trustworthiness" as their standard, which ultimately amounts to keeping the populace ignorant. The "loyalty and trustworthiness" as Confucius understood it is founded upon "love of learning" — founded upon everyone possessing the wisdom to investigate reality to its very roots. Without "love of learning," the standard of "loyalty and trustworthiness" can only be a trick for keeping the populace ignorant. Even if this so-called "loyalty and trustworthiness" standard follows Confucius's criteria, without "love of learning" as its foundation, it will inevitably degenerate — not to mention that most so-called "loyalty and trustworthiness" is merely a facade for various forms of public manipulation.
In the previous chapter, Confucius highlighted the three great standards of "love of learning" from the perspective of "inner sageness"; this chapter discusses the importance of "love of learning" from the perspective of "outer kingliness." Both inner sageness and outer kingliness are inseparable from "love of learning" — one must not be greedy for desires and thereby find satisfaction, not be greedy for one's living environment and thereby find secure footing, verify through present affairs, making theories and discourse conform to present reality, investigate reality to its very roots, cause reality to practice "the Way of the Sage" and achieve it in reality. As for so-called "loyalty and trustworthiness," without the standard of "love of learning," it inevitably means conjuring rules, standards, and morals out of thin air, indoctrinating the populace through methods of keeping them ignorant, and thereby controlling the masses — just like Nazism, Bushido, and the War on Terror, which of these doesn't emphasize "loyalty and trustworthiness"? And which of these doesn't use so-called "loyalty and trustworthiness" as an opiate to manufacture cannon fodder? Confucius, over two thousand years ago, already stripped bare all the ugly dramas of "loyalty and trustworthiness" carried out in the name of the state that would follow.
Chán Zhōng Shuō Chán's Vernacular Translation
子曰:十室之邑,必有忠信如丘者焉,不如丘之好学也。
Confucius said: In all states, if there are those who follow my standard of "loyalty and trustworthiness" therein, this is not as valuable as having those who follow my standard of "love of learning" therein.

Appendix:
Yesterday's late session and today's early session formed a 5-minute pullback test that did not fall back into the original 30-minute hub at 2858, constituting a perfect third-type buy point, and the subsequent price action was very standard. The resistance at 2915 was broken through in the late session, but still needs confirmation. From a purely technical perspective, there still exists the possibility of falling back into this 5-minute hub, thereby extending into a new 30-minute hub, so 2915 must not be effectively broken, otherwise it will expand into a new 30-minute hub, making the evolution of the price action complicated.
There's nothing much to say about individual stocks — it's still sector rotation, and each sector's time is short, so you absolutely must not chase highs; you must buy at buy points. For retail investors, there's no need to participate in a sector's adjustment. However, you also can't be too short-term — you need to grasp the right degree. For example, if on the 5-minute level it's still the main upward move, and you run at the first sub-1-minute divergence, you might miss out on the big profits, so you must make comprehensive judgments. This is an arduous tempering process — you must continuously trade to achieve technical perfection.

"Note, the first three sub-level trend types must all be completed to constitute a hub of that level. Completed trend types are very obvious on the sub-level chart — there's absolutely no need to look at charts of levels below the sub-level."
―――――――――――――――
So may I ask the blog owner, what characteristics do completed trend types have that make them very obviously identifiable without looking at sub-level charts?
==
Without discussing levels, there's nothing to discuss at all, because it can only be blind talk. -
"Chan Theory Technical Analysis Fundamental Principle Two": Any completed trend type of any level must contain one or more Chan Theory hubs.
"Chan Theory Trend Decomposition Theorem Two": Any trend type of any level consists of at least three or more sub-level trend types.

May I ask the blog owner: In "Fundamental Principle Two," should "one or more" be understood as "one or more (including..."
=
At least one.

Boss: How do you confirm it's a third buy point? I also identified two key positions today: 2871 and 2588. But when it came back to 2871, I was always afraid it would test downward again and break through, so I only bought half my position. How can you confirm the pullback won't break the hub high?
==
Look at the internal price action of the sub-level. It's the same judgment as when I said the departure force was insufficient the past few times.

No, this ID will not show my face publicly. If I still needed to handle things on the front stage, that would be too boring.

I thought it needed two tests. I was confused.

Boss, when will financial stocks make a move?
I bought Minsheng Bank at 11.53, and it was neither alive nor dead all day today.
=
Didn't they move these past two days? Right now it's sector rotation — there's no need to keep pushing one sector continuously, as that's not helpful for restoring market sentiment and is also vulnerable to direct attacks. So I've been emphasizing all along, don't chase highs, and you can grasp the rotation rhythm. Those that have already moved will naturally move again once they've adjusted properly.

Master Chan, happy holiday!
All female supplies (— male classmates) wish Master Chan and female classmates a happy holiday!!
If it falls back into the 5-minute hub, that would form the third segment of the 30-minute, and then we'd need to look at the divergence when the hub is complete to determine direction — is that right?
==
Just follow the operating method within the hub. Wasn't this demonstrated several times during the past few days' oscillations? See "Teaching You to Trade Stocks Lesson 33: The Multiple Meanings of Price Action."

"In a 30-minute upward trend of a+A+b+B+c, you can't say that B must exist after A emerges — that would be prediction, equivalent to assuming a mysterious force ensuring B's inevitable existence, which is impossible. Then how do you know whether to stay or leave during segment b? It's very simple — no prediction needed, because whether segment b continues or not isn't determined by your preferences, but by segment b's current price action. If segment b shows obvious divergence compared to segment a, that means it's time to leave; otherwise, stay."
Blogger, I remember you previously said divergence must occur after the second hub. Doesn't this contradict the above?
==
How is there any contradiction? What occurs after the first hub is consolidation divergence.

十室之邑. "十", Shuowen Jiezi says ten represents the completeness of numbers, encompassing east, west, south, north, and center — speaking of the utmost magnitude, meaning all-encompassing.
Li Zehou: Confucius said: "Even in a small place of ten households, there would certainly be someone as loyal and reliable as me, only they wouldn't be as fond of studying as I am."
The usual understanding of "ten" is that it means a small place. It turns out it's completely the opposite. Dear lady, your energy is truly abundant, digging to the root of everything and making it all clear!
==
Generally when speaking of small numbers, words like "three" are used, for example, "Though Chu had but three households." In ancient times, the use of numbers was very careful — they wouldn't casually use "ten." In ancient times, numbers had a sacred quality.

Quote: "Yesterday's late session and today's early session formed a 5-minute pullback test"
Analysis: I believe this is a 5-minute consolidation trend formed by two 1-minute hubs whose fluctuation ranges overlap.
Question: Master Chan, I can't understand the divergence of this consolidation trend. The downward segment this morning was obviously stronger than yesterday's initial decline — how did it still reverse?
==
From the perspective of a+B+b, you calculate the area of the bars rather than the peak length. This is even more obvious on the 5-minute chart. From a pure hub perspective, the 5-minute hub was already formed in yesterday's late session, and the subsequent rise and this morning's gap were all oscillations around it.

You can't be too short-term. If you miss the main upward segments, this kind of stock swapping is meaningless.

The price action was very standard. Being dizzy means not enough tempering, so you need to continuously temper yourself in the present moment. Just learning concepts alone is useless.

Boss,
Regarding your reply that the period from January 9 to February 6 is a daily-level hub — does this mean that 9 segments of 5-minute level constitute a daily-level hub? In other words, when the sub-sub-level extends for 6 segments, plus the original 3 segments of the sub-sub-level hub, this constitutes a hub of the current level.
Is that correct?
==
It starts from January 4, exactly 9 segments of 5-minute price action.

The blog owner is Chinese, for the following reasons:
- Hates traitors;
- Loves studying the Analects;
- Classical Chinese is better than vernacular Chinese — the blog owner's vernacular is really awkward, basically impossible to understand.
- I've noticed a phenomenon: foreign technical tutorials appear simple and straightforward, explaining complex principles clearly, while domestic experts' articles make simple principles obscure and foggy, afraid people will think they're not professional enough. From this perspective, the blog owner can be confirmed as a Chinese national.
Haha, just joking, no offense!
==
This ID has studied all foreign technical theories, and they're fundamentally different from mine. This is an axiomatic system. If you're a liberal arts student, then switch to a mathematical mindset. If you're already a science student, go back to school and restudy.
Theory is the most fundamental, but the key is the present moment in practice — that's another level of thing entirely. Foreign theories can't even come close to this level.

Hello blogger! Regarding the issue of trend and hub levels, after repeated reading of the original text and everyone's discussion, I've reached the following conclusions. Please correct me:
The connection of three same-level trends, such as "trend + consolidation + trend," has the consolidation hub at a higher level than the trend hubs. For clarity, using actual levels instead of "sub-level" concepts:
In a "daily trend + daily consolidation + daily trend" combination, the daily trend contains at least two "daily hubs," while the daily consolidation contains only one "weekly hub." Further deduction shows that daily consolidation contains at least three "daily hubs."
Based on the above, according to the hub definition, weekly hub combinations can include:
"daily trend + daily counter-trend + daily trend,"
"daily trend + daily consolidation + daily counter-trend,"
"daily trend + daily consolidation + daily trend,"
"daily consolidation + daily consolidation + daily consolidation,"
...... etc.
But from the weekly level perspective, if the above combination is a completed sub-level trend, it is merely a daily consolidation! This combination contains only one weekly hub!
Among these, the "daily trend + daily consolidation + daily trend" combination, if viewed from the weekly perspective as an uncompleted trend, could be part of a weekly trend or a segment within weekly consolidation.
So the meaning of daily trend combination connections only makes sense when viewed from the weekly level perspective. Viewed from two different levels, there is multiple meaning.
The above only considers same-level trend combination connections. How to analyze connections of different-level trends? Please advise, blogger.
==
Let me answer this before I leave. You can't mix two unrelated perspectives together. When viewing from the hub perspective, strictly follow the hub definition — all subsequent price action before the hub ends can be seen as oscillation around the hub. As for detailed classification, that will be discussed later.
This question was partially answered above when discussing the 5-minute hub that started yesterday. This hub can be viewed two ways: a+B+b, which is the trend combination view, giving one kind of judgment. And from a pure hub view, the first three segments form the hub, and what follows is oscillation — that's another view, using departure force to judge. If both methods reach the same conclusion, that's naturally the most accurate conclusion — this is the same as the interval nesting method.
Details will be covered in future lessons. I really must go now, goodbye.
